Why a Jammu Carrier Takes Longer to Fill Than a Delhi One
A car carrier moves nine to eleven vehicles. In Delhi that many cars are booked for almost any destination on almost any day. In Jammu they are not — the city sends out a few dozen cars a month, spread across a dozen destinations. So the carrier waits until it has enough for one direction.
This is not a failing anyone can fix by trying harder, and we would rather explain it than quietly let a booking sit. What we can do is tell you which destinations are moving this week. Delhi and Chandigarh fill quickly; the southern runs need notice. If your date is fixed, ask us before you book, not after.
NH 44 from the Top: What the Road Actually Does
National Highway 44 begins at Srinagar and ends at Kanyakumari, and Jammu sits near the top of it. A car leaving here joins the highway almost immediately and stays on it through Punjab, Haryana, the Delhi ring, Gwalior, Nagpur and Hyderabad. For long southern runs that means one road, well surfaced, with no river crossings or coastal weather to plan around.
The complication is at the northern end rather than the southern one. In the second half of December and through January, plains fog south of Jammu keeps carriers to daylight running until they are past Ambala, which costs most of a day at the very start. We quote the winter window as it is rather than handing you a summer schedule and explaining afterwards.
Going On to Srinagar: Why That Leg Needs a Different Vehicle
Cars bound for the Kashmir valley do not travel there on a full trailer. The Jammu–Srinagar road climbs through the Jawahar tunnel and a series of tight hairpins where an eleven-car carrier simply cannot turn. Vehicles are moved on a smaller single- or double-deck carrier for that stretch, and in winter the road closes without notice.
If Srinagar is your destination, say so at booking. We will quote the Jammu leg and the valley leg separately and tell you honestly what the season does to the second one. What we will not do is quote a single door-to-door date in January and hope the road cooperates.

Transit Insurance and the Condition Report
